Rakcham or Rakchham is the lesser known place in the Sangla Valley circuit. The circuit consists of Kalpa, Sangla, Rakcham and Chitkul . The valley is open for normal tourism from April till October, the best time being September and October when the Apple Orchards are full and the weather is pleasant. Beyond October it gets extreme cold in November and December with temp falling below zero. Snowfall starts around 15th November and the snow remains till first week April.
You need moderate woolens during April – October and heavy woolens with Jackets etc. during November – March. Monsoon clouds remain till 3rd week August though somtetimes the skies get clear. Acomodation are various from tents to hotels to guest houses and rates are quite low. Heavy discount are available during winter.

But you get abundant clean pollution-free air, mineral water directly on your tap from the hills, fertilizer free vegies, simple smiling people. Places to stay
We suggest visitors to stay in Sangla and visit this place from there on way to Chitkul – you can even spend a full day at Rakcham and then go back to Sangla which is more convenient in location.
